Leith: the Shore, Britannia and the cruise terminal
Leith is part of Edinburgh but still feels like its own place. Since the trams reached Newhaven in 2023 it's easier for one or two people to get around. For a group, especially one with luggage, a minibus that pulls up outside is still quicker than juggling tram stops.
What groups come here for
Food and drink along the Shore is the big one. The old harbour front is lined with restaurants and pubs, and it's where a lot of hen and stag nights start or finish. We drop off and pick up nearby, rather than everyone trying to flag taxis at closing time.
The Royal Yacht Britannia is moored at Ocean Terminal and is one of the most visited attractions in the city. If you're bringing a coach party, the driver can drop right at the shopping centre entrance.
Cruise passengers
Smaller cruise ships berth in the Port of Leith itself. Bigger ships anchor out in the Forth and run tenders to South Queensferry instead. We do transfers from both, to the airport, to hotels or on a day tour. See our cruise transfer page for the details.
Golf fans, take note
Leith Links is where the Gentlemen Golfers of Leith wrote down one of the earliest sets of golf rules, back in 1744. There's no course there now, but golf fans still like to see it, and it's a fun stop before a golf trip to East Lothian or St Andrews.
Practical bits
- Parking near the Shore is tight on weekend evenings. Give us a nearby street corner as the pick-up and the driver will find you.
- Easter Road stadium is on the edge of Leith. On Hibs home match days, allow extra time in the area.

Questions about minibus hire in Leith
How long does it take to get from Leith to Edinburgh Airport?
It's about 10 miles by road, usually around 30 minutes outside rush hour. Leave more time for early-morning and Friday-evening flights. A one-way 8-seat minibus currently starts from £80.
Can you pick up cruise passengers from the Port of Leith?
Yes. Give us the ship name and the time you expect to be off the ship, and we'll meet you at the port. If your ship tenders to South Queensferry instead, choose that as the pick-up.
